Inclusion Criteria: * histologic or cytologic proof of single primary non-small cell lung cancer * No prior chemotherapy or radiation therapy * no prior malignancy Exclusion Criteria: * pregnancy or breastfeeding * serious concomitant systemic disorder * unintentional weight loss greater than 10%
