MeSH — Medical Subject Headings (NLM)
NLM controlled vocabulary used to index PubMed. CancerIndex maps the MeSH descriptors of the Neoplasms tree (C04) and the malignant hematologic / immunoproliferative subtrees (C15.378.190.6*, C20.683) onto canonical cancers: descriptor UIs become cancer_codes (system "mesh"), headings and entry terms become aliases, so literature queries can be MeSH-anchored and PubMed→cancer edges resolve by UI. MeSH never creates canonical cancers (it is an indexing vocabulary, not a disease ontology).
